Job Description

MWCC seeks part-time instructors for the Veterinary Technology program. Applicants must have knowledge and expertise in taught topics and promote the appropriate role of the veterinary technician. Instructors will educate students in accordance with the curriculum and AVMA standards in the Veterinary Technology program. Applications to the adjunct faculty pool are open to qualified individuals with relevant skills, education, and experience in academic and/or professional areas.

All part-time faculty are responsible for providing a high-quality learning environment in classrooms, laboratories, and online platforms. Adjunct postings are for potential part-time, non-benefited positions during the  academic years. Applications will be held in discipline-specific pools and notification of status may occur only if called for an interview. Applicants should indicate availability by completing the Adjunct Faculty Questionnaire.

Responsibilities
  • Develop interactive course material in accordance with the AVMA's essential skills list
  • Supervise students in simulated and clinical settings
  • Maintain expertise appropriate to veterinary medicine and teaching responsibilities
  • Instruct in both traditional and non-traditional learning modes
  • Instructional preparation
  • Assessment of student performance; including submission of final grades in a timely fashion
  • Be available to students by appointment when mutually convenient
  • Not more than one faculty meeting per session
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently certified veterinary technician and/or currently employed veterinary technician
  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Minimum of three years in clinical practice
  • Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills
  • Evidence of competence in the area of instruction
  • Maintain expertise appropriate to teaching responsibilities

Desired Qualifications

  • 3-5 years teaching experience in a community college
Equivalency

Applicants who do not meet the stated qualifications may explain, in writing, how their background and experience provide an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience for the responsibilities of this position.

Additional Information

Adjunct Instructor compensation: 3 Credit Lecture $4,191.00-$5,064.00; 4 Credit Lecture $5,588.00-$6,752.00; 4 Credit Lab $6,259.00-$7,562.00. Employee Status:
