Job DescriptionPotential Adjunct Faculty
Application submission to the part time adjunct faculty pool is open to qualified and competent experts, who possess skills, education, and experience in academic and/or professional areas.
All part time faculty are responsible for providing our students with a high quality learning environment, while utilizing their focused expertise and experience in their individual classrooms, laboratories, and online platforms.
Adjunct Faculty Postings are for potential part-time, non-benefited, positions during the / academic years.
Applications for adjunct positions will be held in applicant pools by discipline which, whenever a position opens up in any given discipline, will be consulted when searching for candidates to fill the position. Applicants for adjunct positions will not be notified of their status unless they are contacted to come in for an interview, which might occur soon after applying or as much as a year later.
Adjunct applicants are encouraged to indicate their availability by completing the Adjunct Faculty Questionnaire.
- Instruction in both traditional and non-traditional learning modes;
- Instructional preparation;
- Assessment of student performance, including submission of final grades in a timely fashion;
- An obligation on the part of the unit member to be available to students by appointment when mutually convenient;
- Participates in professional development activities and remains current in one s area of expertise;
- Utilizes a wide variety of teaching methodologies including informational technologies (Blackboard, Dentrix) and active learning strategies for the integrated classroom for the dental hygiene students;
- Not more than one faculty meeting per session;
- Other duties as required.
- Bachelor s Degree in dental hygiene or related area.
- Willingness to complete educational methodology courses that meet Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) requirements for teaching in an accredited dental hygiene program.
- Sound knowledge of the current periodontal assessment guidelines (AAP).
- Knowledge of dental hygiene education program accreditation
- Sound knowledge of federal and state regulation policies and guidelines (CDC, OSHA, DPH)
- Experience teaching didactic and/or laboratory courses in a CODA accredited dental hygiene program.
- Active member of the American Dental Hygienists Association.
- Massachusetts s Permit-L, local anesthesia license or ability to obtain.
- Registered Dental Hygienist in good standing licensed in the state of Massachusetts or ability to obtain a license in the state of Massachusetts.
- CPR certified at Health Care Provider level.
- Master s Degree in Dental Hygiene or related field
- Minimum of three years of dental hygiene clinical practice with periodontally involved patients.
- Experience teaching clinical dental hygiene in a CODA accredited program.
- Experience working with Blackboard or other online learning management systems.
- Well-articulated understanding of the role of community colleges, their students and philosophy.
- Evidence of understanding and appreciation for diversity and multiculturalism.
- Integration of computer technology into instruction.
- Ability to work effectively with populations representing diverse ages, backgrounds, life experiences, and abilities, including adult learners.
