Seafood Manager

Position Objective:
To assist customers in their shopping experience by leading all aspects of the Seafood team in a way that not only promotes growth for the company, but also results in a team that delivers the product and service Cosentino customers have come to expect.

Reporting Structure:
This position formally reports to the Meat Manager. Status:
This is an exempt position.

• A valid driver’s license is required for deliveries.
• A food handling permit is required within the first 14 days of employment.
• Minimum of (1) year previous experience working in a retail seafood setting is required.
• Completion of ongoing training and development as listed on the Cosentino Learning Plan.
• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

• Effective strategy implementation for operational excellence (labor management, profit and sales analysis, etc.).
• Clear communication of departmental goals and plans to team members.
• Direct supervision of deli team members, providing coaching, corrective actions, and performance evaluations.
• Address employee relations issues and collaborate with Human Resources.
• Promote positive teamwork, high morale, and recognition of good performance.
• Conduct interviews to hire high quality candidates.
• Create schedules that balance labor costs with service needs.
• Resolve customer complaints professionally.
• Know and implement Cosentino Customer Service Standards.
• Promote new items and weekly specials through merchandising.
• Be knowledgeable of department items, procedures, and policies.
• Manage inventory processes including counting, ordering, and tracking.
• Follow proper cutting and preparation techniques.
• Meet or exceed productivity standards.
• Monitor product expiration and ensure proper rotation.
• Handle damaged or unsaleable products and follow damage claim procedures.
• Accurately change shelf tags and price markers.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of work area.
• Operate, clean, and maintain equipment safely.
• Ensure compliance with health regulations and safety procedures.
• Demonstrate strong verbal, interpersonal, math, and reading skills.

• Assist customers at the counter by weighing, wrapping, and pricing selected items.
• Unload and sort incoming shipments and stock them methodically.
• Stock department shelves ensuring correct UPC codes and front-facing display.
• Monitor potential security issues and report concerns.
• Ensure all new employees receive orientation and training as needed.
• Assist other stores or departments as needed and acquire new skills.

• Reaching overhead up to 72 inches, twisting at the waist, lifting up to 30 lbs.
• Pushing and pulling grocery items up to 20 lbs.
• Standing and walking for long periods on hard surfaces.
• Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
• Bending and squatting to floor level.
• Work in colder conditions of coolers and freezers.
• Climbing a ladder up to 5ft.
