Overview
Cook at California Fish Grill
Manhattan Beach, CA
Part-time position
Responsibilities- Prepares or directs preparation of food served using established production procedures and systems.
- Determines amount and type of food and supplies required using production planning.
- Ensures availability of supplies and food or approved substitutions in adequate time for preparation.
- Sets steam table; serves or ensures proper serving of food for tray line or dining.
- Complies with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health rules; observes proper food preparation and handling techniques.
- Stores food properly and safely, marking dates as required.
- Reports necessary equipment repair and maintenance to supervision.
- Plans food production to coordinate with meal serving hours so that quality, temperature, and appearance of food are maintained.
- Apportions food and maintains daily production.
- Keeps work area neat and clean at all times (including dishwashing); cleans and maintains equipment used in food preparation.
- Completes food temperature checks before service; completes in-service training and adheres to uniform, dress codes, and personal hygiene requirements.
- Supports the Mission, Values and Vision of California Fish Grill.
- Supports and cooperates with safety procedures, confidentiality, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
- Works with co-workers to complete duties with minimal supervision; communicates effectively in sensitive situations.
- Promotes positive public relations with customers and team members.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
- Strong knowledge of restaurant operations, food safety and sanitation, quality customer service, and safe work habits.
- Ability to follow company rules and procedures and comply with state and federal laws.
- Moderate reading and writing skills; proficient interpersonal relations and communication.
- Physical ability to stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; ability to follow written and oral instructions.

- High School Diploma or GED and 2-3 years related work experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Prior experience in related food service positions.
- Valid Serv Safe or other approved Food Handler Certification.
- High level of integrity and honesty.
- May be required to work beyond normal hours to meet customer needs or restaurant requirements.
- Must operate kitchen equipment safely (oven, stove, dishwasher, slicer, coffee machine, steamer, mixer, chef’s knives).
