Job Summary of the Operations Manager position

Integr8staff seeks an ambitious and skilled Manufacturing Operations Manager with a manufacturing engineer background preferably in aerospace and defense to ensure throughput targets are met in a safe, timely, quality, cost efficient and productive manner. The Operations Manager ensures throughput targets are achieved in a safe, timely, quality, cost‑effective and productive manner. Manages production schedules to fulfill orders; is accountable for the achievement of area performance objectives, product quality and variable costs;

ensures employees are accurately trained, assigned specific duties, coached, disciplined, and rewarded; and always optimizes equipment availability, cycle times, and overall continual improvement.

Responsibilities of the Operations Manager position
  • Leads support departments to ensure that all area production methods and practices are consistent with internal quality standards, and customer requirements
  • Analyzes, establishes, and communicates performance standards for area of responsibility.
  • Manages the flow of product, materials and labor utilization in the business unit to maximize productivity and minimize cost while achieving safety, quality, inventory and throughput targets.
  • Reviews and plans for daily, weekly, and quarterly labor, equipment, tooling and supply requirements to achieve area throughput while meeting and exceeding productivity targets.
  • Formulates area priorities as it relates to plant requirements and communicates daily with engineering, quality, production control, finance, human resources, production, and suppliers, measures performance against stated priorities.
  • Manages the team in developing and implementing effective systems for improving internal and external quality, cost improvements, and on‑time delivery to the customer requirements.
  • Collaborates with manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, and production leads to achieve scrap, cost and safety requirements.
  • Offers effective leadership and acts in a manner that maintains a positive and productive work environment with customers, clients, co‑workers and area employees.
  • Reviews variable labor costs daily, works with supervisors to determine required staffing levels and supports labor re‑allocation across the plant as required.
  • Executes management responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; evaluating and appraising individual performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Leads cross training to ensure the elimination of all skill gaps, resulting in a more skilled and adaptable workforce. Ensures the completion of required competency forms and certifications, as well as maintains an employee skill matrix.
  • Oversees policies and procedures as required.
  • Offers support to department employees as required.
  • Leads a zero‑injury culture by proactively complying with all environmentally safe practices and regulations. Reads all MSDS’ and possesses thorough knowledge of all oil and chemical labeling and storage requirements. Conducts EH&S self‑inspection and safety huddles in areas of responsibility.
Requirements of the Operations Supervisor position
  • B.S. or B.A. Degree required.
  • Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering Degrees highly preferred.
  • 5+ years Manufacturing experience (aerospace, defense, forging, machining preferred).
  • Supervisory experience leading teams of 100+ to meet and exceed production goals.
  • Process improvement experience is desirable (Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing).
  • Performance management skills.
  • Analytical skills; personal accountability with strong organizational skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with all levels of organization, especially with direct employees.
  • Solid, overall business acumen and a strong mindset for continuous improvement.
  • Intermediate use of MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and QAD; other productivity tools.
  • Quality focused & production oriented.
