Job Summary
The Radiological Technologist II must perform two (2) modalities. They must meet Radiology Tech I criteria plus one other modality either in Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) or Interventional Radiology (IR). The Technologist must perform all examinations at a technical level enough to provide adequate diagnosis with limited supervision and in accordance with established procedures and protocols. This position performs a variety of diagnostic radiography imaging procedures to provide data for diagnosis and monitoring of disease and injuries in accordance with all applicable standards, regulations, and licensing requirements.
Assist physicians and radiologists in performing radiological procedures on patients ranging from pediatric to geriatric. Establishes and maintains quality control procedures for imaging services. Actively and consistently contributes to department operations and communications, behaves in a manner consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Pipeline Health, upholding standards of AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank you) patient communication.

Essential Functions- Completing the patients' intake process, taking patients' histories, and preparing and educating patients about the imaging procedure.
- Reviewing patients' charts and doctors' notes before the examination and maintaining patients' records during and after procedures.
- Preparing contrast media for diagnostic imaging.
- Calibrating the equipment to ensure clear, usable images are taken of the correct area, as specified by the Doctor.
- Performing finalizing functions including, but not limited to, limited coding using radiology information systems or medical record systems to provide timely and accurate patient information and charge capture.
- Ensuring the proper sterilization and storage of the equipment, maintaining radiographic equipment, and reporting any equipment failures.
- Coordinating with the radiology department to schedule and complete radiographic procedures.
- Maintaining up to date knowledge of current radiology practices.
- Demonstrating knowledge of principles of CT or MRI and computer science as related to scanning. Calibrating system periodically as required.
- Demonstrating correct and adequate cross-sectional anatomic positioning skills. Reviewing exposed films for adequate information required by examination/procedure, technique, and identification as per approved protocols.
- Demonstrating complete working knowledge of imaging equipment and computer software necessary to perform studies. Selecting appropriate CT or MRI scanning technique/equipment and determining the most suitable posture/position.
- Recognizing emergency situations, initiating code and ready to respond as needed. Ensuring all emergency equipment is operational and emergency supplies are fully stocked.
- Reviewing patient questionnaire and requisitions for special instructions. Reviewing with Radiologist and patient, if necessary, to assure safety and appropriateness.
- Assisting in training and guidance of new staff and students who rotate through these modalities. Performing any other duties or responsibilities which may be assigned.
- Using clear, concise, professional communication with coworkers, patients, and all customers internal and external.
- Using AIDET in interactions with patients and family members. Utilizing white boards for patient communication.
- Collaborating across disciplines to assist in coordination of patient care, including but not limited to patient transfer, discharge, referrals, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
- Acting with a sense of urgency when performing tasks.
- Engaging in basic unit/department maintenance such as keeping files, drawers, cabinets free from unnecessary clutter.
- Reporting on any equipment and or environmental issues for repair.
- Abiding by HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations.
- Utilizing SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation) when communicating with oncoming shift, physician communication and giving report to ancillary or other nursing services.
- Speaking up to stop the line and escalating potential safety events if necessary.
- Completing and attending monthly training assigned.
- May float to other areas of the hospital as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
