Job SummaryThe Radiological Technologist II must perform two (2) modalities. They must meet Radiology Tech I criteria plus one other modality either in Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) or Interventional Radiology (IR). The Technologist must perform all examinations at a technical level enough to provide adequate diagnosis with limited supervision and in accordance with established procedures and protocols. This position performs a variety of diagnostic radiography imaging procedures to provide data for diagnosis and monitoring of disease and injuries in accordance with all applicable standards, regulations, and licensing requirements.
Assist physicians and radiologists in performing Radiological Procedures on patients ranging in age from pediatric to geriatric. Establishes and maintains quality control procedures for Imaging Services. Actively and consistently contributes to department operations and communications, behaves in a manner consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Pipeline Health, upholding standards of AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank you) patient communication.

Essential Functions- Completing the patients' intake process, taking patients' histories, and preparing and educating patients about the imaging procedure.
- Reviewing patients' charts and Doctors' notes before the examination and maintaining patients' records during and after procedures.
- Preparing contrast media for diagnostic imaging.
- Calibrating the equipment to ensure clear, usable images are taken of the correct area, as specified by the Doctor.
- Performs finalizing functions include, but not limited to, limited coding using radiology information systems or medical record systems to provide timely and accurate patient information and charge capture.
- Ensuring the proper sterilization and storage of the equipment, maintaining radiographic equipment, and reporting any equipment failures.
- Coordinating with the radiology department to schedule and complete radiographic procedures.
- Maintaining up to date knowledge of current radiology practices.
- Demonstrates knowledge of principles of CT or MRI and computer science as related to scanning. Calibrates system periodically as required.
- Demonstrates correct and adequate cross-sectional anatomic positioning skills. Reviews exposed films for adequate information required by examination/procedure, technique, and identification as per approved protocols.
- Demonstrates complete working knowledge of imaging equipment and computer software necessary to perform studies. Selects appropriate CT or MRI scanning technique/equipment and determines the most suitable posture/position.
- Recognizes emergency situations, initiates code and ready to respond as needed. Makes sure that all emergency equipment is operational and emergency supplies fully always stocked.
- Reviews patient questionnaire and requisitions for special instructions. Reviews with Radiologist and patient, if necessary, to assure safety and appropriateness.
- Assists in training and guidance of new staff and students who rotate through these modalities. Performs any other duties or responsibilities which may be assigned.
- Uses clear, concise, professional communication with coworkers, patients, all customers internal and external.
- Uses AIDET in interactions with patients and family members. Utilizes white boards for patient communication.
- Collaborates across disciplines to assist in coordination of patient care, including but not limited to patient transfer, discharge, referrals, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
