Accounting Clerk

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to join our team in Gardena, California. In this Contract to permanent position, you will play a vital role in supporting the finance department by handling accounts payable, assisting with financial reporting, and managing administrative tasks. Responsibilities:

- Process check requests, ensuring proper allocation of expenses and reviewing mileage claims.

- Maintain and update employee benefits schedules in alignment with payroll allocations.

- Manage vendor accounts in the portal to ensure timely payments and avoid late fees.

- Order agency program supplies, verify deliveries, and record transactions in the system before forwarding them to the accounts payable specialist.

- Review and approve accounts payable transactions and supporting documents prior to vendor payments.

- Collaborate with the controller to prepare monthly financial statements and generate ad hoc financial reports.

- Provide assistance during annual audits and program-specific financial reviews.

- Organize and maintain filing systems for accounts payable and other finance-related documentation.

- Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparing accrual worksheets and recording journal entries.

- Communicate effectively with internal departments to address financial matters and follow up on pending receipts. Requirements - Proficiency in accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.

- Strong data entry skills with attention to accuracy and detail.

- Experience in invoice processing and financial documentation.

- Familiarity with Financial Edge or similar accounting software.

- Ability to create and analyze financial reports using Excel.

- Excellent organizational and time management skills.

- Strong communication abilities to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

- Prior experience in a non-profit or similar environment is a plus.
