Data Engineer
Overview
We are looking for an Integration Engineer (prefer Azure Integration Services) to work on a 12+ month engagement. Our client is preparing for a Workday implementation and is seeking a hands‑on Integration Engineer to support data integrations between COINS and Workday, as well as other enterprise systems. The ideal candidate is strong in APIs, data extraction/loading, transformation, and system‑to‑system integration patterns—regardless of specific platform or product experience.
This is an engineering‑focused role responsible for building and supporting integrations, not defining enterprise architecture.
- Develop, test, and maintain integrations between COINS and Workday, including extracting data from COINS via APIs.
- Structure and expose data sets in a usable, repeatable way.
- Build bidirectional data flows between COINS ↔ Workday.
- Create and maintain API‑based integrations between various internal and external systems.
- Work closely with the Workday implementation team to align on data structures, mapping, and sequencing.
- Interpret business requirements and transform them into efficient, scalable integration solutions.
- Ensure integrations meet security, performance, and reliability standards.
- Troubleshoot integration issues related to data quality, payload structure, API connectivity, and system constraints.
- Build or support automation scripts, integration jobs, and data transformation pipelines as needed.
- Produce clear technical documentation for integrations, mappings, and workflows.
- 5–8+ years of experience as an Integration Engineer, Software Engineer, or similar hands‑on technical role.
- Strong experience with REST APIs, webhooks, authentication methods (OAuth2, API tokens), and payload formats (JSON, XML).
- Proven ability to extract, transform, and load data across systems.
- Experience building and maintaining production‑ready integrations.
- Ability to work with incomplete or evolving requirements.
- Solid understanding of common integration patterns such as event‑driven, API‑led, and file‑based or batch integrations.
- Experience with Azure Integration Services preferred; otherwise, experience with at least one modern integration or automation platform (e.g., Workato, Boomi, Mule Soft, Snap Logic).
- Strong SQL skills and understanding of data modeling.
- Excellent communication skills with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Experience integrating Workday, particularly during initial implementation.
- Experience with COINS (API familiarity is a plus but not required).
- Background supporting data movement in construction, engineering, or field services environments.
- Experience with Python, Power Shell, or similar scripting languages.
- Familiarity with modern cloud platforms (Azure preferred).
The ideal engineer thrives in a hands‑on technical role, is comfortable working with evolving requirements, and can quickly understand data structures and system behaviors. They should be able to independently pull data, expose it, move it, and validate it—regardless of the specific source and target systems.
