Financial Aid Administrator One-Stop Student Services Center JOB SUMMARY

The Financial Aid Administrator is expected to have high level competencies and understanding of all Federal Title IV, state and institutional aid programs, student aid eligibility and compliance. Responsible for completing federal verification, determining student aid eligibility, packaging students with federal, state, institutional, and private student financial aid in accordance with federal and state regulations, and institutional policies. Processes appeals using professional judgment.

Manages one or more financial aid programs, including the development and maintenance of policies and procedures, reporting, compliance, fiduciary controls, regular reconciliation and student information and communications associated with these programs.

SALARY INFORMATION

In compliance with New York’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $52,000 – $57,000. Adelphi University considers factors such as departmental budgets, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

An annual base salary higher than the range may be warranted in circumstances where a candidate has demonstrable equivalent prior higher education experience at another University.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
  • Independently performs federal and institutional verification for 30% of Adelphi University’s financial aid applicant pool. Requests and reviews federal tax returns and other financial aid documentation for consistency with application information. Reviews subsequent ISIR records, resolves FAFSA reject codes and C‑flags, and repackage awards when necessary. Resolves complex cases.
  • Packages and coordinates into student’s financial aid packages federal, state and institutional grants and scholarships, federal direct and private loans and student employment programs in accordance with federal, state regulations and institutions policies and procedures.
  • Participates in processing quality assurance efforts, annually updates policies and procedures and is expected to facilitate process improvements, including data management and reporting.
  • Review appeals and exercise professional judgment in awarding additional aid to students.
  • Effectively and independently manages and administers one of a group of special programs and/or specific student populations that require specific in-depth knowledge and understanding.
  • Manages a high‑volume processing as assigned during peak periods.
  • Utilizes financial aid platforms such as NSLDS, COD and HESC.
  • Maintains a high level of knowledge on all federal, state and institutional policies concerning financial aid.
  • Collaborates with departments within One‑Stop and other on and off campus partners to ensure program success and student recruitment and retention.
  • Provides training to One‑Stop team members on financial aid efforts and specialized program responsibilities.
  • Answers inquiries from students, parents and other University personnel. Meet with parents and students regarding the affordability of the university and the calculation of out‑of‑pocket expenses.
  • Conducts college nights if needed on and off campus.
