Scope:
Vent duct insulation for mess and berthing spaces
- Travel Provided
- Laborers must be familiar with the duties of other craft workers and with the materials, tools, and machinery they use. All workers in a team must collaborate to carry out assigned construction tasks efficiently.
- Perform general clean‑up work such as:
- Sweeping
- Mopping
- Repairing
- Prepare and maintain a clean work area at production/construction sites.
- Before performing any hot work, inspect the area to ensure that all flammable and combustible materials have been removed.
- Deliver all safety equipment (including appropriate fire extinguisher) to the site.
- Stay stationed at the work site to respond quickly and prevent fires.
- Conduct frequent inspections of the hot work areas during hot work to ensure the area remains safe and working conditions are favorable.
- Assist fitters and welders with setting up equipment such as torch hoses, extension cords, and welding lines before hot work begins.
- Report fires and accidents to the officer of the deck and Firewatch Coordinator immediately.
- Remain in place for thirty minutes following work performed to clean the area and to ensure worksite conditions remain safe.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- One or more years' experience in Industrial and/or marine industry preferred.
- Regular exposure to all weather conditions, especially hot, humid and/or rainy weather, combined with regular work time indoors in environmentally controlled conditions.
- Most construction laborers do physically demanding work. Some work at great heights or outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Must wear hearing, eye, and other necessary protective equipment.
- Some climbing (100 feet) and lifting (50 lbs.) involved.
- Standard PPE
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- High performance and a strong team player.
- Manual dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, good physical fitness, a good sense of balance, and an ability to work as a member of a team.
- Ability to carry out directives effectively, and on time.
- Having a desire to assist and clean up without the need for direction.
