Research Scientist, Data Scientist
Job Description
The postdoctoral fellow will conduct, report and present research in his/her field of study under the supervision of a faculty mentor. This is a training position, and is not expected to be a permanent position.
Essential Job FunctionsFunctioning independently, the Postdoctoral Researcher will design, organize, and conduct highly specialized and advanced experiments focused on super‑resolution microscopy, with an emphasis on 3D‑STORM imaging of nuclear organization. The researcher will integrate experimental and computational approaches, including the development and application of AI‑based methods for analysis of high‑density super‑resolution datasets. The position involves both method development and biological discovery, with the goal of producing publishable, high‑impact results.
In addition to microscopy‑focused work, the Postdoctoral Researcher will engage broadly with genomics‑driven questions of nuclear organization. This includes integrating super‑resolution imaging with genomic, epigenomic, and chromatin conformation datasets, and developing general AI methodologies such as deep learning, representation learning, and cross‑modal data integration frameworks. These approaches are intended to operate across imaging and genomics data types and to support unified, quantitative models of nuclear architecture.
- Design and implement advanced super‑resolution microscopy protocols, including 3D‑STORM sample preparation, imaging, and calibration; adapt and develop new procedures, methods, and instrumentation as needed.
- Develop and apply AI‑and machine‑learning–based approaches for localization microscopy analysis, reconstruction, segmentation, and quantitative characterization of three‑dimensional nuclear architecture.
- Collect, curate, and analyze large‑scale microscopy datasets; maintain detailed experimental and computational records; manage structured databases of imaging data and analysis outputs.
- Generate figures, statistical analyses, and visualizations for internal presentations, conferences, and manuscript preparation.
- Work closely with other members of the laboratory to integrate imaging data with complementary genomic and biophysical assays related to nuclear organization.
- Provide guidance and supervision to junior researchers, students, and technicians in microscopy, data analysis, and best laboratory practices.
- Search and synthesize relevant scientific literature in super‑resolution microscopy, nuclear architecture, and computational image analysis.
- Assist with ordering, maintenance, and optimization of microscopy equipment, computational resources, and laboratory supplies.
