Competent clinician who possesses knowledge and skill to meet standards for professional nursing practice as specified in the Texas Nurse Practice Act. Experienced, knowledgeable, and skilled in specialty area, functioning as a member of the interdisciplinary team, and capable of predominantly interdependent decision-making and patient-centered care with the ability to manage unexpected or emergency situations.
Essential Job Functions Professional PracticeResponsible for overarching quality of professional nursing practice within day‑surgery setting, including leadership of patient care teams and determination of best nursing practices.
Nursing Process- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document daily care of assigned patients.
- Identify nursing diagnoses and patient care needs; develop and individualize care plans, revising as needed.
- Execute physician orders for all assigned patients; administer medications and treatments, ensuring culturally congruent care.
- Perform routine technical procedures/skills in the specialty area assigned.
- Provide basic patient/family instruction and healthcare teaching based on identified learning needs.
- Identify potential impact of family dynamics.
- Utilize evidence‑based resources to provide patient/family education.
- Use Teach‑Back to determine effectiveness and modify strategies as needed.
- Plan, coordinate, and prioritize patient care activities according to skill level and work complexity.
- Maintain safety and continuity of care using bedside shift reports, handoff tools/processes, and interdisciplinary rounding.
- Demonstrate effective time‑management skills.
- Delegate appropriately, seeking guidance when needed.
- Demonstrate competent use of technology in patient care delivery.

- Complete required specialty‑specific Competency Based Orientation (CBO) tools by initial performance evaluation due date.
