Traffic Services Technician

Position: TRAFFIC SERVICES TECHNICIAN
Job Description

Under the direct supervision of the Street Supervisor participates in operating gasoline powered paint striping machine while painting crosswalks parking stalls etc. Maintains and services line painting machinery and any other equipment. Applies pressure sensitive reflective material to a variety of sign blanks and lays out lettering for placement on sign blanks. Cuts lettering from reflective material by hand as necessary.

Maintains a variety of signs throughout the City. Constructs paints and installs guardrails for protection of pedestrians and vehicles. Assists in the fabrication of signs which comply with the State of New Mexico uniform traffic codes and City ordinances. Maintains and stores signs in paint shop by sign designation and in proper order. Operates air hammers sanding machine power drills circular saws post driver posthole digger and other machines necessary to perform functions of job.

Drives a one ton truck while hauling equipment and supplies. Participates in the initial set-up of temporary and permanent work zone traffic control by following standard and guidelines from Part VI of the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). Required to perform emergency call back duties outside the normal working hours weekends and Holidays and must respond within thirty (30) minutes to call out.

Performs other duties as assigned.

STARTING HOURLY PAY: $13.61 p/h

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) Two (2) years of experience in public works maintenance or closely related field of work. Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL-Class A or Class

B) with Medical Card. Must meet City's insurability requirements Other
