Minimum: $59,984.00

Maximum: $84,026.00

Responsibilities
  • Plan curriculum and prepare lessons and other materials, considering individual needs, abilities, teamwork levels, and student limitations to meet IEP goals.
  • Serve as a member of a multidisciplinary team implementing educational plans, advocating for students.
  • Determine parents’ ability to comprehend and apply therapeutic and behavior modification techniques and form teaching plans accordingly.
  • Instruct students and develop individual teaching plans covering self‑help, motor, social, cognitive, and language skills for home implementation.
  • Revise teaching plans to match child’s developmental rate.
  • Counsel parents and refer to social service agencies and facilities for additional services and financial assistance.
  • Maintain confidential individual records for referrals and continuation of service, in compliance with federal, state, and district regulations.
  • Maintain professional skills through consultations, in‑service activities, and self‑selected professional growth activities.
  • Maintain awareness and respect for cultural diversity of students and families, assisting staff in understanding variations when planning.
  • Deliver educational services to children who are homebound due to health limitations, distance, etc.
  • Daily travel from site to site, and from home to home.
  • Instruct students and teachers in sign language, finger spelling, and speed cues.
  • Encourage students to participate in verbal communication, classroom learning experiences and social skill development.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of early childhood development and exceptional learning.
  • Knowledge of local and state educational structure and organization, cultural diversity concepts, educational foundational elements, current legislation, district policies, and local cultural diversities including Native American beliefs.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and implement corrective educational plans; interact effectively with education professionals in the District.
  • Ability to utilize and understand formal assessment instruments, procedures, and techniques for evaluation and remediation.
  • Ability to understand statistical analysis and evaluation, testing materials and results, counseling and interpersonal relations.
  • Experience with handling and maintaining student records confidentially.
  • Interpret and apply federal, state, and local policies, laws, and regulations.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
Education and Licensure
  • One year of related work experience in a school setting desirable.
  • Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Applicants must have BA degree and possess or obtain a NM teaching license (alternative licensure program for BA holders).
Working Conditions
  • Physical Demands: On‑site attendance mandatory. Use strength to lift items, sit, stand, walk, speak, hear. Communicate effectively in English; ASL or Braille acceptable.
  • Constantly stand/walk, bend, use hands for repetitive grasping/pushing/pulling; lift/carry up to 50 lbs (often 20 lbs), occasional push/pull up to 10 lbs.
  • Environmental Demands: Exposure to various childhood and adult diseases and illnesses, weather conditions, heated/air‑conditioned and ventilated facilities, chemical substances from cleaning, moderate quiet workplace that can be noisy.
  • Work near video display; wear provided personal protection equipment.
