The Elementary teacher will provide guidance and instructional experiences that are academically and developmentally appropriate for students. The teacher is held accountable to the New Mexico Teacher Competencies and Domains. The teacher will also deliver State and District curriculum and provide equal educational opportunities for all students.

• Planning and Preparation:
  Demonstrate knowledge of content, design coherent instruction, set instructional outcomes, use resources effectively, understand student needs, and design student assessments.
• Creating an Environment for Learning:
  Create an environment of respect and rapport, organize physical space, establish a culture for learning, manage classroom procedures, and manage student behavior.
• Teaching for Learning:
  Communicate with students in a culturally appropriate manner, use questioning and discussion techniques, engage students in learning, assess instruction, and demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness.
• Professionalism:
  Communicate with families, participate in the professional community, reflect on teaching, demonstrate professionalism, and grow and develop professionally.
• Follow board policies and administrative rules and regulations.

• Manage time appropriately.
• Maintain accurate and complete records of grades and attendance.
• Report progress or lack thereof to parents in a timely manner.
