Summary:
The Program Specialist will work within a team to determine eligibility for crisis services and build relationships within the community to meet the needs of our customers. This position requires attention to detail, the ability to assess circumstances quickly, and a strong capacity for public speaking in both small and large groups. The successful candidate will be a creative, self-starter, self-disciplined, and comfortable interacting with customers and the community.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
* Assess and determine eligibility for crisis services in a timely and accurate manner.
* Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries and ensuring a positive experience for clients.
* Accurately enter and maintain customer information and case notes into required systems.
* Conduct motivational interviewing with customers in need of crisis services to assess needs and identify appropriate solutions.
* Provide guidance and support to individuals, helping them achieve their goals and improve their circumstances.
* Organize and lead educational sessions, training programs, and support groups.
* Connect customers with appropriate community resources to address their needs.
* Engage in community development efforts to improve access to resources for underserved populations.
* Foster relationships with local organizations and service providers to build a network of support.
* Establish partnerships with other community organizations and stakeholders to enhance service delivery.
* Participate in relevant meetings and networking groups to stay informed and expand community connections.
* Assist with planning, packing, and distributing food through TEFAP/Commodities Programs.
* Schedule and participate in outreach events to educate the community and provide eligibility determination for services.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Qualifications:
- Education:
* High School diploma or equivalent required. - Experience:
* 2 years of experience in the field of Human Services.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse populations.
- A combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.
