Position:
Maintenance Assistant

The Purpose of this position is to plan, organize, develop and assist the Maintenance Supervisor with the overall operation of the Maintenance Department in accordance with the current local, state, and federal standards, guidelines and regulations, and as directed by the Administrator to assure that the facility is maintained in a safe and comfortable manor.

• Willingness to work flexible hours
• Painting and drywall experience
• Electric and plumbing experience
• Moderate to heavy physical effort including lifting up to 65 pounds
• Frequent walking or standing required

• Assist with regular rounds of the facility to check all maintenance zones for quality control and safety, health and welfare of patients, employees, families, and visitors, and report equipment failure or damage to the Administrator immediately.
• Assist with checking air conditioning and heating units on roof and in patients  rooms, offices, and other areas of the facility
• Assist with checking utility systems and breakers, washers, and dryers in the laundry
• Assist with daily repairs as needed
• Assist with checking water and boiler temperatures, dietary cooking equipment, cooling equipment, public address systems, fire extinguishers and alarms, fire doors, and electrical outlets
• Assist with the inspection of storage rooms, work rooms, utility and janitorial closets for upkeep, supply, control and safety
• Coordinate work of the maintenance department with other department functions to avoid interrupting patient care or normal business functions
• Able to be on call for emergencies
• Run errands, handle incoming and outgoing freight, lift and move heavy furniture and equipment, and perform other miscellaneous duties as directed by the administrator
• Responsible for the care, maintenance and repairs of institutional property, equipment and grounds as directed by the administrator
• Regular inspection of property and equipment for compliance with safety regulations
• Perform other duties as assigned from time to time

Previous Maintenance experience preferred.
