Director of Access Center
Volunteer State Community College
Job SummaryProvide leadership, coordination, and advocacy for the Access Center. Facilitate equal access to post‑secondary education for students with disabilities and ensure services comply with federal, state, and college policies.
Job Duties- Oversee and support registered students with disabilities, develop and implement policies and accommodations, and determine appropriate accommodations from documentation.
- Supervise staff and students, provide disability awareness and professional development training, and consult on academic accommodations and legal compliance.
- Prepare and manage the departmental budget, seek grant funding, and serve as the Accessibility Chair on T ’s campus access team.
- Coordinate T ’s annual course audit, chair the Accessibility Compliance Task Force, and oversee VSCC’s accessibility training and projects.
- Ensure the College meets all accessibility standards and complete required reporting to T .
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in Special Education, Counseling, Education, or related field.
- Three years experience working with special populations in higher education or related experience in education or social services.
- Two years of leadership experience either in directly managing employees or project management.
- Five years experience working with special populations in higher education or related experience in education or social services.
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations, including Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
- Knowledge of grant funding and educational programs.
- Must be knowledgeable of DSM V, diagnose and interpret educational, psychological, medical documentation, and effectively use it for educational intervention.
- Must be able to determine how a student’s documented functional limitations may impact the completion of specific course work and determine reasonable accommodations to meet essential course requirements.
- Excellent writing and documentation skills.
$62,385 – $77,981 annual salary depending on experience.
