Position Summary
The Supply Chain Supervisor is responsible for all operational activity including order entry, load planning, and load monitoring. The supervisor will supervise salaried associates and manage performance. Actively involved in the hiring process and customer interactions.
ShiftMonday thru Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm
Major Responsibilities- Lead team of salaried employees (performance review, corrective action, goal setting)
- Provide detailed instruction via email and phone
- Act as first‑level escalation for customer inquiries
- Assist in new customer implementations
- Prioritize time‑sensitive situations
- Work with team on scheduling deliveries and providing excellent service
- Ensure customer KPIs are met daily and weekly
- Track shipments to ensure on‑time delivery
- Handle rate negotiations with carriers on a spot‑rate basis
- Analyze process data and drive continuous improvements
- Identify cost savings opportunities for the customer
- Cover business needs during vacations, illness, etc.
- Other projects as assigned by the manager
- 2‑5 years of experience in logistics/supply chain
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Previous supervisory experience
- JDA Transportation Management System experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail and effective communication skills
- Strong customer focus
- Problem‑solving / process improvement skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize time‑sensitive situations
- Advanced desktop computer skills (Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to learn and operate multiple computer systems
- Leadership and team development for salaried associates
- Professional relationships with customers and Penske personnel
- Team player with flexibility for different shifts
- Full attendance essential
- Willingness to travel as necessary, complete application, background investigation, and drug screening
- Read, communicate verbally and/or in written form; analyze information; understand instructions.
- Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs (12 kg).
- Stand, walk, sit; use hands to touch, handle, and feel; reach with hands and arms.
- Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
