Overview
Under direction, supervises the installation, maintenance, and repair of audiovisual and other electronic equipment and systems. Work of this class involves responsibility for laying out work details, assigning duties, and directing the work of electronics technicians. Nature of work requires visits to school facilities in planning major installations of electronic equipment and inspecting projects at various stages of completion. Assignments in this class are made orally or through written work orders, and may include blueprints and technical specifications.
Physical Demands:
Ability to perform work requiring some physical exertion and climbing. Special Requirements:

- Supervise the installation, maintenance, and repair of audiovisual and other electronic equipment and systems.
- Plan and supervise the work of electronics technicians; provide technical assistance in purchasing audiovisual equipment, public address systems, and related electronic devices.
- Review blueprints and technical specifications to guide installations and inspections.
- Visit school facilities to plan major installations and inspect projects at various stages of completion.
- Assign duties, lay out work details, and direct the work of the electronics shop staff.
- Interpret and implement assignments made orally or through written work orders.

- Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of inspecting, testing, installing, and repairing a wide variety of audiovisual and other electronic equipment and systems.
- Ability to plan and supervise the work of electronics technicians; ability to provide technical assistance in the purchasing of audiovisual equipment, public address systems, and related electronic devices.
- Considerable skill in the application of the methods and techniques used in testing, inspecting, and repairing audiovisual and other electrical equipment.
- Good human relations and communications skills.
- Knowledge of and the ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).
High School or GED diploma required. Completion of a recognized technical training course in the fundamentals of electronics and television maintenance and repair, and considerable and varied experience in the installation, servicing, and repair of electronic equipment and systems. Supervisory experience preferred. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.
Certificate / License: possession of a valid Maryland class D driver’s license, or equivalent.
