MECHANIC HELPER JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary:

Perform mechanical repairs on commercial vehicles, using tools, knowledge, teamwork, training, and problem-solving skills. Present to the customer a professional self-image and company image through excellent service, safe operation, and timeliness. Maintain working area and equipment in compliance with Company guidelines. Perform necessary documentation and timely and correctly according to procedures in effect.
Display competency, professionalism, dependability, safety, and quality assurance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Using reason even when dealing with emotional topics or situations.
• Possess the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must possess the ability to compete rate, ration, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Possess the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Must possess the ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardize situations.
• Displays willingness to make decisions; exhibits sound and accurate judgement; supports and explains reasoning for decisions; includes appropriate behavior in decision making process; makes timely decisions.

• Executes repairs of vehicles and equipment in a way that will ensure the completion of service will provide safe functionality in accordance with operating instructions.
• Wears proper personal protective equipment and takes all safety precautions in day-to-day operations.

• Utilizes shop equipment, tools, and mechanical devices in compliance with operating instructions and Company procedures, with the highest level of safety in mind.
• Immediately reports near misses, accidents, or perceived unsafe situations to supervisor with clear communication and urgency.
• Performs repairs and operation of vehicles, mechanics, and shop equipment with situational awareness, always using 3-points of contact, wearing proper uniform and personal protective equipment in accordance with industry safety standards and Company procedures.
