PREP Research Associate
This position is part of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Professional Research Experience (PREP) program. NIST encourages collaboration with researchers at academic institutions, which must be the recipient of a PREP award. Employees in this position will perform technical work supporting scientific research collaborations.
Research Title: Biomedical engineer
Job Location: NIST Gaithersburg Campus, Gaithersburg, Maryland, near Washington DC
Job Responsibilities:
Develop biomanufacturing of cellular models resembling the human digestive system.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to evaluate control measurements.Perform transepithelial electrical resistance measurements.Evaluate control data with statisticians.Conduct experiments to validate model performance with chemicals and treatments.Publish research findings and present at conferences.Qualifications:
MS or PhD in physics, engineering, biomedical engineering, or biology.Experience with biomanufacturing of complex cell models.Proficiency with advanced instrumentation and imaging software.Experience with cell viability assays and plate readers.Ability to write protocols, present results, and analyze data.Critical thinking, innovation, and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and in teams.Experience with spreadsheets and statistical software.Application Instructions:
