We’re looking to add a Full-Time Veterinary Assistant to our busy, energetic, and caring team at Laytonsville Veterinary Practice.

• Assisting in exam rooms and surgeries
• Collecting patient histories and understanding vaccine protocols
• Performing in-house lab work (Idexx Procyte, Catalyst One, Snap Pros)
• Practicing safe restraint techniques
• Assisting with urgent care and hospitalized patients
• Supporting soft tissue surgeries, dentals, ultrasound, digital X-rays, and more

• Proficiency in handling animals and working in exam rooms
• Knowledge of core vs. lifestyle vaccines
• Experience with preventives, lab equipment, and patient care
• Confidence, kindness, and the ability to stay calm when things get busy
• Bonus if you’re familiar with Ezy Vet software

We are a 5-doctor practice with a diverse and passionate team. We’re supportive, respectful, and collaborative, and we cover shifts to ensure the best care for pets.

Schedule & Perks

• 35–40 hours/week, flexible scheduling (3x12s, 4x10s, 5x8s)
• Rotating Saturdays
• Late night rotation (12–8 pm) to assist with urgent care
• Sunday shift every 4 months, typically includes OT
• Time-and-a-half holiday differential
• Opportunities to see a wide variety of cases, including urgent and emergency

• Provide essential patient care and assist the medical team with hands-on care, treating every animal with compassion and respect.
• Be the go-to support for the medical team, anticipating needs to ensure a smooth, efficient workflow.
• Create a positive client experience by assisting with scheduling, payments, and communications in a courteous and informative manner.
• Ensure a safe and clean environment by maintaining the hospital, performing upkeep, and equipment maintenance.

• A High School Diploma or equivalent
• A calm and efficient approach in a fast-paced environment
• Confidence and skill in handling pets of all sizes and temperaments
