This company is seeking a Vice President of Sales & Service, North America to lead a large, high-performing commercial organization and drive continued growth across a diverse portfolio of instruments, consumables, reagents, and services.
This is a high-impact executive role with full responsibility for revenue growth, customer experience, and talent development across sales and service functions. The role offers long-term growth potential, including progression toward broader General Manager–level responsibility.
Key Responsibilities- Own and lead the North American sales and service organization, including Direct Sales, Field Service, Scientific/Technical Support, and Applications Development.
- Develop and execute strategic and tactical sales plans to achieve revenue, profitability, and market share objectives across multiple product portfolios.
- Drive accurate forecasting, territory planning, quota setting, and performance management.
- Design and implement sales incentive programs aligned with business goals and customer value creation.
- Lead and develop a large, geographically distributed organization (200+ employees) through a strong bench of senior leaders and managers.
- Attract, retain, and develop top commercial talent; build a culture of accountability, coaching, and continuous improvement.
- Serve as a mentor and coach to leaders, fostering succession planning and organizational readiness.
- Build and maintain executive-level customer relationships across key academic, biotech, biopharma, and clinical accounts.
- Anticipate emerging customer needs by understanding operating cycles, budgets, workflows, and partnership opportunities.
- Ensure world-class customer satisfaction, loyalty, and service excellence.
- Partner closely with Marketing, Supply Chain, R&D, Finance, and Global Commercial leaders to align strategy and execution.
- Operate effectively within a highly matrixed, international organization, influencing across functions and geographies.
- Contribute to global strategy discussions and long-range planning initiatives.
- 15+ years of experience in sales within a scientific or life sciences environment.
- 8+ years leading large sales organizations in life science tools, diagnostics, or laboratory technologies.
- Demonstrated experience managing a $500M+ revenue P&L and leading 200+ person commercial organizations.
- Proven success overseeing Sales, Field Service, Applications, and Technical/Scientific Support teams.
- Strong track record of driving growth through direct sales and multi-channel models.
- Experience working globally in a matrixed organization, with the ability to influence without authority.
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences; MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred.
- Willingness to travel up to 80%.
- Experience in a privately held or founder-led organization.
- Exposure to European or German-based corporate cultures.
- Background in life science tools, instruments, reagents, and consumables.
- Desire and capability to grow into a broader GM or enterprise leadership role.
