About the roleForterra is seeking a senior EHS leader to own environmental, health, and safety performance across our manufacturing and testing operations. This role is responsible for protecting our people, maintaining regulatory excellence, and building an EHS system and culture that scales with the business.
This is a hands‑on leadership role. You will set strategy, run programs, and personally drive execution. Success requires judgment, credibility with regulators and operators, and the ability to push issues through to real closure—not just compliance on paper.
What you'll do- Own EHS strategy, compliance, and performance across manufacturing and test operations
- Lead development and execution of EHS management systems aligned with OSHA, EPA, DOT, DoD, and applicable state and local requirements
- Serve as primary point of contact with regulatory agencies and external auditors
- Own environmental permitting, reporting, and hazardous waste programs, including air, waste, stormwater, and spill prevention
- Lead hazard assessments, risk analyses, and industrial hygiene efforts; maintain site risk registers and required documentation
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action through completion
- Drive safety culture through leadership engagement, training, visibility, and accountability at all levels
- Partner with engineering, operations, and facilities to embed EHS into design, production, and sustainment decisions
- Build, lead, and develop the EHS team, including resource planning, budgeting, and succession
- Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, engineering, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience leading or implementing EHS programs in manufacturing, industrial, or similarly regulated environments
- Deep working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and applicable state and local regulations
- Strong judgment, executive presence, and the ability to influence operators and leaders alike
- CSP, CIH, CHMM, PMP, or similar professional certification
- Experience implementing or auditing ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
- Track record of building safety culture while maintaining operational pace
$110,000 - $140,000
The salary range for this role is an estimate and is based on a wide variety of compensation factors. The salary offered to candidates will vary based on a variety of factors including (but not limited to) relevant work experience, education, specialized training, critical expertise, training, and more. Equity in Forterra is included in most of our full‑time, high‑demand roles and is therefore considered part of Forterra's overall compensation package.
