R&D Engineer; Machine Learning & Sensing Technologies

We are seeking a highly self-motivated R&D Engineer with a strong background in Machine Learning (ML) applied to physical systems. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between advanced data science and physical engineering, developing ML-based solutions for signal processing, structural health monitoring, and additive manufacturing process qualification.

• ML Development: Design and implement machine learning algorithms (e.g., deep learning, anomaly detection) for complex signal and image processing tasks.
• Sensing & Data Analysis: Develop intelligent systems for sensor networks, interpreting data from acoustic, ultrasonic, and vibration sensors.
• NDT/SHM Applications: Create diagnostic and prognostic models for Nondestructive Testing (NDT) and Structural Health Monitoring (SHM).
• Additive Manufacturing: Apply ML to monitor additive manufacturing processes, enabling real-time product qualification and properties prediction.
• Prototyping: Design and test experimental setups and functional prototypes in our specialized labs.
• Proposal Writing: Assist in writing research proposals and technical reports for internal and external stakeholders.

• Education: Ph.D. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field.

• Proven experience in Machine Learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, Tensor Flow) and programming (Python, C#, or C++).
• Strong background in signal/image processing and time-frequency analysis.
• Familiarity with additive manufacturing (e.g., EBAM) and process monitoring is highly desired.
• Experience with NDT/SHM technologies (ultrasound, RF, or eddy current).
• Soft Skills: Excellent writing and oral communication skills for technical reporting and collaborative R&D.
• Requirements: U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency is preferred for this position.
