Director of Financial Planning and Analysis

Position Title: Director of FP&A (Construction Industry required)

Location: Gainesville, VA - hybrid role up to 3x/week on-site

Assignment Type: Direct Hire

Compensation: $140-160K

Our client is seeking an experienced FP&A Manager/Director to lead financial planning and analysis activities in a fast-paced construction environment. This role will support project-based financial management, forecasting, and strategic decision-making while partnering closely with Operations and Project Management to drive profitability and improve financial performance.

• Lead annual budgeting and rolling forecasts with focus on project pipeline and backlog
• Analyze job costs, WIP schedules, and project margins
• Perform variance analysis (budget vs. actual; estimate vs. actual)
• Support bid reviews with financial modeling and risk analysis
• Develop cash flow forecasts and monitor working capital (billing, retainage, collections)
• Prepare monthly management reports and executive presentations
• Improve financial reporting tools, dashboards, and processes

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
• 5+ years of FP&A, construction finance, or project accounting experience
• Strong understanding of job costing, WIP reporting, and percentage-of-completion accounting
• Big 4 experience preferred but not required
• Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills
• Experience with construction ERP systems preferred
• Excellent analytical, communication, and business partnering skills
