The position performs highly advanced supervisory maintenance and construction work, overseeing staff involved in installing, caring for, and repairing state facilities and equipment. Duties include planning, scheduling, and supervising maintenance repair programs and minor construction projects, monitoring contracted work, managing the maintenance computer program, and assisting with the development and maintenance of the six‑year capital improvement plan. The role operates with minimal supervision and requires independent judgment.
On‑call or overtime work beyond 40 hours per week may be required.
- Supervise maintenance of water and sewer lines, primary/secondary electrical systems, buildings, gas utility system, stationary equipment, streets, sidewalks, and grounds in accordance with the Maintenance and Operations Manual.
- Oversee and monitor preventive maintenance programs and participate on the agency’s Facility Assessment Team to inspect buildings, equipment, and grounds.
- Sketch rough plans and designs for requested projects to present perspectives of scheduled projects.
- Serve as a liaison for construction projects and monitor construction jobs to maintain effective communication between contractors, administration, and Central Office staff.
- Maintain cost records for the facility through supervision of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Oversee and monitor an inventory control system; approve or deny requisitions for maintenance supplies, equipment, and costs for the facility.
- Prepare reports and records and provide them to management for consideration.
- Select, train, assign, direct, and evaluate staff.
- Monitor outcomes for racial, ethnic, and gender disparities and take action to address identified disparities.
- Perform a variety of related duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.
- Perform all duties in compliance with agency safety policies and procedures: report safety hazards and correct hazards when possible; complete required documentation in the event of an accident/injury within requested time frames; attend work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency attendance and leave policies.
