Multi Skilled Technician – Emergency Department (Nights)

Job SummaryAssists with basic patient care based on individual patient needs within the scope of practice under direct supervision of the registered nurse. Maintains an environment prepared for patient care.
ShiftFull‑Time Nights (7 p.m.–7 a.m.)
Responsibilities- Provides supportive care to Emergency Department patients under the direct supervision of the registered nurse or physician.
- Takes documents and reports vital signs; reports abnormal results immediately to the registered nurse.
- Notifies appropriate licensed personnel when a patient complains of pain.
- Receives and carries out instructions accurately and promptly; all patient care activities are delegated and supervised by the registered nurse.
- Transports patients, as necessary; assists with moving, ambulating, and lifting patients.
- Documents patient care performed, including vital signs, bedside care, and observations.
- Adheres to hospital policy addressing standard precautions and safety regulations.
- Communicates effectively with all coworkers, patients, visitors, and physicians.
- Responds to patient and visitor questions and needs immediately and appropriately.
- Maintains patient comfort and privacy.
- Maintains and prepares rooms between patients and procedures.
- Monitors stock and restocks supplies as needed.
- Maintains policies and procedures established by the department.
- Assists in cost containment through appropriate ordering and conserving of supplies.
- Demonstrates ability to work effectively as a team member; supports and assists the team.
- Enhances growth and development through participation in educational programs.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
- Attends annual review and department in‑services, as scheduled.
- Attends at least 80% of staff meetings annually; reads and returns missed staff meeting minutes.
- Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
- Communicates the mission, ethics, and goals of the facility as well as the focus statement of the department.
- Basic computer skills.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- BLS Certification within 30 days.
- EMT Certification preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
- Additional languages a plus.
- Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs. alone.
- May be required to assist with patients or equipment up to 500 lbs.
- Ability to walk or stand for up to 75% of the time.
- Ability to push, pull, lift, bend, kneel, twist, and reach above shoulder level.
