Mission description:
As a member of Safran Seats, you contribute to providing over one million seats to airlines worldwide, ensuring superior quality, comfort, and innovation. Your role involves collaborating with a team to develop high-value solutions for passengers and crews. Safran is one of the few OEMs offering a comprehensive range of passenger seats, from economy to first class, allowing you to take pride in creating impressive seating options for various needs.
- Manage the technical development of a product from conception to production.
- Utilize core tools such as PFMEA, DFMA, control plans, etc.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, tooling and other departments to resolve issues and improve processes. May develop new tools as needed.
- Review and approve or reject engineering drawings in accordance with internal DFM guidelines and requirements. Propose changes and updates to DFM guidelines.
- Create and maintain detailed work instructions.
- Ensure design and process are sufficient to produce the quality of product required by internal and external standards. Support related improvements and projects.
- Support production areas, fabrication and final assembly, when new product is being launched.
- Incorporate new methods and processes to improve existing operations.
- Apply continuous improvement methods such as lean manufacturing to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, or cost-effectiveness.
- Design layout of equipment or work spaces to achieve maximum efficiency.
- Manage tool control on the line. Order and register new tools if needed.
- Lead cross-functional projects of medium impact or complexity and assist with projects with higher caliber.
- A. Education & Qualification - B.S degree in a related technical field (e.g.:
Industrial Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer/Technology, Aeronautics Engineer, or Electrical Engineer) or an Associate degree with 6 years related experience or 12 years of job related experience. - B. Work Experience - Technical knowledge:
Three years of manufacturing experience required in a Manufacturing Engineer, Industrial Engineer or related Engineering capacity. Six Sigma or Lean certification preferred. Catia V.5 or design modeling a plus. - C. Professional Skills - Must have basic knowledge of production methods, process capabilities, tooling processes, and manufacturing processes. Able to prepare well-written reports. Basic knowledge of manufacturing and related operations with detailed knowledge of product design, engineering function, tool design, tool fabrication, ergonomics and EHS, space layout, handling equipment, production machinery and equipment, N/C machinery and equipment, factory methods work, etc.
Knowledge and experience in Lean Manufacturing principles preferred. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and operating systems. Ability to generate written communication and operate required office equipment. Ability to read and review written communication. Clear and distinct English communication skills. - D. Behavioral Skills - Able to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and engage in healthy debate. Able to maintain an organized workspace and calendar to keep up with active assignments. Able to approach problems both analytically and creatively.
- E. Desirable Aspects - APQP, D&PFMEA, Control Plan, etc. CATIA V.5, CAD Modeling experience. Problem Solving.
