Mechanical Design Engineer

Akkodis is recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer position for a manufacturer in the Gainesville, TX area. This is an onsite contract position with a pay range of $43 to $47 an hour depending on education, experience and location.

• Performs design coordination of seats and seat components.
• Coordinates between various customers and vendors.
• Interfaces with Program Manager on project development and design progress.
• Reviews customer requirements and specifications and relates them to product design.
• Monitors day-to-day design progress as required.
• Assures conformity of product and that engineering deadlines are met.
• Works independently with little supervision.
• Confers with customers and vendors on conceptual configuration and initial design requirements for various new and ongoing seat programs.
• Reviews design specifications and incorporates them into assigned product.
• Prepares layouts of overall design task including structural and articulation systems.
• Defines design standards to maintain commonality with existing product line.
• Defines and sets goals as to complete tasks expeditiously.
• Prepares advanced bill of materials and long-lead item list.
• Reviews design package to assure conformance to latest specifications and regulations.
• Prepares drawings for release.
• Assumes liaison duties when product reaches the various manufacturing stages.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Must have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Design Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Mechanical and Energy Engineering or a related engineering degree (minimum of 12 years equivalent related engineering experience will be considered in lieu of Bachelor's degree).
Or must have a Master's degree in the same fields.

Plus an additional 5 years of related design experience required with Bachelor's degree.
Plus an additional 4 years of related design experience required with Master's degree.
Must have excellent drafting skills in CATIA V5 (or higher) and/or Pro/Engineer.
Requires advanced knowledge of aircraft seat products.
Must have good knowledge of materials and production processes, and mechanical knowledge of parts and stress conditions.
Must be able to interact successfully with engineering, tooling, and manufacturing departments.

$43 to $47 per hour
