Duties The primary purpose of this position is: to serve as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) section Small Shop Chief no more than 25% of the time over journey level mechanics that test, troubleshoot, repair and modify aircraft fuel distribution systems, repairs leaks of external/integrated tanks and to provide training to reservists in the accomplishment of tasks set forth therein.
DUTY 1:
Performs small shop chief duties over the journey level mechanics in the section no more than 25% of the time. DUTY 2:
Receives work document(s) or oral instructions regarding problem(s) with aircraft fuel system. DUTY 3:
After test and repair of component(s) is completed or the determination made that replacement is required, installs said component ( or replacement) in aircraft and reinstalls all items/components making necessary tests, adjustments, calibrations and inspections as necessary during the reinstallation process. DUTY 4:
Troubleshoots integral fuel tanks, using leak path analysis and other test procedures such as pressure checks, vacuum checks, dye injection checks, helium and argon gas checks, etc., to determine the source of fuel leaks. DUTY 5:
Troubleshoots fuel cells to determine location of leaks. Requirements Conditions of employment

QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-8200 Fluid Systems Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.
Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is the ability to perform the work of an AIRCRAFT PNEUDRAULIC SYSTEMS MECHANIC with little to no supervision. JOB ELEMENTS:
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
* Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Skill in the use of standard hand and power tools of the trade. Ability to read and interpret a variety of technical data.
* Ability to install aircraft fuel systems, equipment or accessories. Comprehensive knowledge of operation, capabilities and limitations of aircraft fuel systems. Ability to use a variety of test and measurement equipment.
* Ability to test complete fuel systems. Ability to overhaul, repair or fabricate aircraft fuel equipment. Ability to calibrate aircraft fuel equipment.
* Ability to troubleshoot aircraft fuel equipment of moderate. Knowledge of safety and security requirements as outlined in applicable standards, regulations and technical orders. Knowledge of tool, equipment, and materials accounting and security.
* Knowledge of USAF Technical Order Program and its procedures. Ability to clean work area and/or job site upon completion of work. Knowledge of applicable personnel, manpower, time, and attendance, and budgeting instructions, guidelines, and requirements.
