Overview

This role supports the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals and upholding quality assurance standards. Responsibilities- Help customers discover items and answer product questions.
- Inform customers of food specials and recommend products to meet their needs.
- Check product quality and freshness; review "sell by" dates and take appropriate action.
- Provide customers with fresh and non-perishable grocery items as ordered; label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
- Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads; adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers; keep temperature logs.
- Gain and apply knowledge of products sold within the department; respond to questions and suggestions.
- Create an environment where customers feel welcome and appreciated by answering product questions store-wide.
- Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions.
- Inspect equipment as part of preventive maintenance and notify management of repairs.
- Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
- Work cooperatively in a fast-paced or high-stress environment and manage conflict constructively.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information; follow directions and seek assistance as needed.
- Provide support and assistance to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults as required.
- Perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
