A Brief Overview The Electrical Controls Engineer plays a critical role in the design, development, and optimization of control systems and electrical equipment to enhance manufacturing operations.

This position requires a blend of technical expertise and problem‑solving ability to ensure system reliability, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards. The Electrical Controls Engineer will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive continuous improvement, manage system upgrades, and support the integration of advanced automation technologies in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

What you will do
  • Develop and implement PLC and HMI programs for manufacturing systems. Design electrical control panels and schematics using CAD software. Select and configure appropriate hardware for control systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve control system failures to minimize downtime. Perform regular testing and calibration of equipment. Ensure compliance with safety and industry standards.
  • Integrate new equipment into existing systems. Implement continuous improvement initiatives for system efficiency and reliability. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to coordinate projects.
  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation, including schematics, software, and operation manuals. Ensure adherence to all regulatory and company standards.
  • Train technicians and operators on system functionality and troubleshooting. Provide technical support during production runs.
  • Support capital projects, including budget preparation and timeline development.
  • Research and recommend new technologies for process improvement.
  • Assist with energy management and optimization initiatives.
  • Some duties may vary slightly by location.
Education Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field. (Required)
Experience Qualifications
  • 4‑6 years in industrial automation and controls. (Preferred)
  • 4‑6 years with PLC programming (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent). (Preferred)
  • 4‑6 years hands‑on experience with HMI design and SCADA systems. (Preferred)
Skills and Abilities
  • Expertise in programming and diagnosing issues with Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, or similar systems. Ability to write, test, and debug ladder logic and structured text. (High proficiency)
  • Proficient in designing and implementing user interfaces and monitoring systems, ensuring user‑friendly operation and accurate data visualization. (High proficiency)
  • Capability in creating detailed electrical schematics using tools like AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN. (High proficiency)
  • Ability to systematically identify and resolve complex technical issues using analytical tools and techniques. (High proficiency)
  • Clear and effective communication to articulate technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders and document processes accurately. (High proficiency)
