Overview

The Counsel provides legal advice and counsel throughout the organization on various matters in support of the overall legal strategy developed by the SVP, General Counsel. This position is responsible for drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and interpreting complex contracts and RFPs/bid documents for the refined products and natural gas businesses, engaging in negotiations and dispute resolutions, as well as working on various legal and business research projects.

• Contracts
  • Draft and review contracts
  • Negotiate contract details with internal and external customers
  • Review RFPs/bids with appropriate department representatives and provide legal analysis
• Research Projects
  • Conduct research and provide memoranda on various legal and business matters, including but not limited to natural gas regulations and tariffs
• Miscellaneous
  • Assist with various matters, including but not limited to insurance, litigation and employment law topics

• Formal Education & Certification
  • Law degree from an accredited law school
• Knowledge & Experience
  • Strong contract drafting and negotiating skills
  • Previous experience (1+ years) working in a corporate law department or a law firm

• Work Environment
  • 40-hour on-site work week (with potential for up to 2 days/week remote in time)
  • Sitting for extended periods of time
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and other computer components
