Within the scope of credentials and licensure, Medical Assistant performs administrative and clinical duties under the direction of a physician. Clinical duties include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, administering medications and injections as directed by physician. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments and maintaining medical records.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the physician as instructed with patient care during office visits.
- Assist the physician with patients by telephone, including instructions to sick patients and prescription refills.
- Assist the physician with triage and minor office procedures.
- Assist in management and treatment of reactions which occur secondary to immunotherapy.
- Maintain an aseptic environment appropriate for medical office.
- Educate patients on their physical condition, treatment plan, use of equipment and medication deliver devices, environmental controls and any other issues which may affect the patients' care.
- Other duties as assigned.
