About the Role

Job Summary

Assist with day-to-day operations and technical functions associated with the Department of Pharmacy Services. Is the "go to" person for everyday questions and required on the spot decisions needed to ensure safe, efficient, and effective Pharmacy Services. To work closely with pharmacy administration to manage implementation of clinical initiatives. Organize and lead a team of matrix partners and subject matter experts to assess opportunities to deliver results consistent with these condition goals.

Responsible for providing “pharmaceutical care” which is defined as the responsible provision of drug therapy for the purpose of achieving definite outcomes that improves a patient’s quality of life. Interacts with Physicians, employees and patients throughout the hospital. This position will care for patients in the neonate, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups. Employee performs clinical duties in accordance with population specific guidelines and adheres to policy and procedures.

    D. (Doctor of Pharmacy) or BS Degree

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Shares responsibility for the quality of work of employees in the department to ensure maximum utilization of Pharmacy Services. Assists in the orientation and training of pharmacy technicians and pharmacists as needed. Responsible for mentoring and education as well as ongoing analysis of interventions to insure accurate and appropriate documentation and provide summary reports (if assigned). Assists in resolving problems and mediates conflict during daily operations after hours.

    Participate in staff interviewing process:
    Provides constructive feedback togym appropriate Manager and supervisor on employees' performance. Provides constructive feedback to appropriate Manager and supervisor on employee's performance

  • Effectively supervise pharmacy operation activities and provides support to the whole pharmacy team. Manage call outs after hours working with Pharmacy Leadership as needed. Helps ensure workflow is timely with a smooth cadence.

  • Provide customers with prescribed medications in an accurate and efficient manner to enhance the health of the NGHS Community. Perform analysis to ensure correct entry of each medication order including processing all medication orders for completeness, accuracy and dosing schedule, process all medication orders for completeness, accuracy and dosing schedule, and communicate with Physician for any questions concerning a medication order for non-formulary resolver.

    Maintain proper aseptic technique and knowledge base when preparing chemotherapyजूद. Maintain proper aseptic technique and knowledge base when preparing IV admixtures.

  • Actively participate in the Clinical Pharmacy Service to provide the customer with quality pharmaceutical care.  pharmacokinetic skills and is capable of applying these principles to clinical situations. Perform clinical monitoring such as kinetics, nutrition review, chart review, and case management and necessary interventions on assigned patients. Assure that all patients are updated on a daily basis and patients are explained the pharmacy role in managing their outcome.
