This position is a Lead Fleet Mobile Technician who provides high quality vehicle maintenance and repairs for fleet vehicles with a focus on exceptional customer satisfaction in a cost‑effective manner. The Technician may work independently or in a team environment and will report to the Area Fleet Maintenance Supervisor, Area Fleet Maintenance Manager, or the Senior Area Fleet Maintenance Manager.
Responsibilities- Maintain and repair vehicles, delivering exceptional service to customers.
- Perform preventive maintenance: change oil, oil filter, fuel filter, transmission flush, and inspection of the vehicle for mechanical deficiencies.
- Perform light and major repairs, advanced diagnostics, and OBD II systems, brake components, tires, tune‑ups, suspension components, aerial lifts, electrical systems, State Safety Inspections, interior/exterior components, engine, and driveline components.
- Maintain and repair equipment such as cable trailers and laptop docking stations.
- Keep shop area clean and tidy, dispose of all fluids safely and in compliance with regulations.
- Create and maintain vehicle history and maintenance records; up‑fit new vehicles with necessary equipment.
- Perform complex repairs, advanced diagnostics, design, fabrication, and welding as needed.
- Coordinate with vendors for parts and repairs; provide roadside assistance when required.
- Ensure availability of specialized trucks by troubleshooting and repairing complex hydraulic systems, generators, electrical systems, hybrids, and onboard computer systems.
- Diagnose and repair general automotive parts and accessories, including brakes, drivability, emissions, steering/suspension, electrical, state safety, HVAC, major engine, and hydraulics.
- Schedule repairs and maintenance, maintain parts and supply inventories, and assist the Area Manager in vendor relationships.
- Maintain all shop tools and communicate tool needs to leadership.
- Supervise shop productivity, provide work direction, identify priorities for a small staff of technicians, and assist with training and HR compliance.
- Ensure all SOPs are implemented and enforce company policies and procedures.
- Perform quality control checks and report any exceptional or unsatisfactory work.
- Orient, train, and instruct new and current employees regarding job functions and tasks.
- Assist with inventory management and ensure all equipment, supplies, and tools are in good, clean working order.
- Report theft, damage, or safety concerns to management.
- Demonstrate safety commitment, lead safety activities, and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and local codes.
- Work with manager to review work volumes, plan, and monitor staffing levels to ensure efficiency and customer service.
- Lead the team, champion company values, and ensure employees are treated with respect.
- High School Diploma/GED and 7 years’ experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Master Level ASE certification (preferred).
- Ability to drive vehicles with standard and automatic transmissions.
- Ability to work safely in a fast‑paced environment, enter and exit vehicles frequently.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk, and hear; frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat, and climb.
- Vision abilities: close, distance, and color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Detail‑oriented, able to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
