Laboratory Courier I (Job No: 538339)
Location: Main Campus, Gainesville, FL

Salary: $16.55 - $16.75 per hour

- Ensure verification of specimens picked up at various locations and optimal transport at correct temperatures to maintain sample integrity.
- Record, monitor, and maintain temperature ranges for frozen, ambient, incubated, and refrigerated laboratory specimens.
- Deliver mail and materials to clients as designated by supervisor or lead courier on a daily basis.
- Fill client supply orders daily and meet 24‑hour turnaround for consumables and 48‑hour turnaround for printed material.
- Enforce laboratory specimen rejection/acceptance policy by confirming patient identification on specimens and requisitions.
- Maintain timeliness of assigned routes with associated timetables, ensuring turnaround times are met. Create and maintain database (provided route sheets) of stops, mileage, start and end times.
- Assist with new‑hire training, safety, policies, and procedures as directed by supervisor or lead courier.
- Perform basic vehicle maintenance (fluids, fuel, lubricants, lights, tire pressure) and keep vehicle in top operational condition and appearance.
- Operate safely on all roadways, slowing for rough roads, railroad crossings, construction sites, and adhering to posted speed limits.
- Report potential vehicle malfunctions, accidents, medication use impairments, and cleanliness to supervisor.
- Speak conscientiously to customers, represent the company professionally, and escalated customer concerns or opportunities to management.
- Demonstrate strong organizational and critical‑thinking skills, identify potential customers along routes, and communicate discoveries to Path Labs Client Relations team.
- Provide support to laboratory personnel as required.
- Completion of ninth grade and possession of a classified driver license appropriate to the type of vehicle operated.
- Completion of 12th grade or equivalent.
- Good verbal and writing skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Medical courier experience.
- Background in customer service.
- Experience with product deliveries and fulfillment.
- Open to current UF employees only.
