The Reservations & Events Program Assistant plays an integral role on the Rec Sports team and serves as a liaison between professional staff, registered student organizations, and external groups. The Program Assistant is responsible for assisting the daily operations of events and reservation requests – including intake, coordination, communication, processing, and invoicing of all event items for Rec Sports.

Rec Sports Team Member Responsibilities

  • Develop professional relationships with co-workers, participants, and guests
  • Uphold and exceed the expectations of the Cornerstones of Rec Sports Service: accountability, anticipating needs, attitude, and atmosphere
  • Demonstrate a desire to learn and apply knowledge as a Rec Sports ambassador
  • Take ownership of Rec Sports facilities and programs by exhibiting a responsible work ethic
  • Promote and maintain cleanliness and appearance within and surrounding Rec Sports facilities
  • Enforce Rec Sports policies and procedures to promote participant safety and satisfaction
  • Respond to all emergency situations and adhere to established protocol including pre- and post- incident procedures
  • All Rec Sports employees are expected to abide by the Rec Sports Student Staff Code of Conduct that clarifies shared expectations and standards in effort to best serve our patrons, develop each team member, and prepare student employees for future career endeavors.

Unit Specific Job Responsibilities

  • Manage facility requests and reservation processes for all Rec Sports facilities, including Lake Wauburg
  • Assist with ensuring compliance with UF Event Policies for all Rec Sports Reservations
  • Assist with internal reservation requests for all Rec Sports facilities and spaces
  • Communicate regularly with Rec Sports team members, registered student organizations, and external groups
  • Coordinate event logistics and management with attention to detail, including night and weekend event days/times
  • Provide exceptional customer service to groups and individuals requesting use of Rec Sports spaces
  • Recruit staff to assist with event management
  • Oversee equipment reservation processes for events
  • Assist in documentation of Rec Sports policies and invoicing of all events
  • Assist with event tracking

$15.50/hour

- First Aid, CPR, AED certification or ability to attain it within first week of employment
- Able to work 20 hours/week, including some night and weekend hours, on-call hours, and some academic breaks

This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week and additional hours with an approved hours extension form.

* Federal Work Study students are encouraged to apply.
