Job Description:

The Department of Recreational Sports is currently looking for Member Services Associates to join our energetic team and move Gators towards lifelong wellbeing! Member Services Associates serve the department by delivering exceptional customer service to our patrons, serving as the first point of contact for Rec Sports members, and managing access to both Southwest Recreation Center and Student Recreation and Fitness Center.

Successful candidates will begin work at the beginning of Summer 2026.

Rec Sports Team Member Responsibilities
  • Develop professional relationships with co-workers, participants, and guests.
  • Uphold and exceed the expectations of the Cornerstones of Rec Sports Service: accountability, anticipating needs, attitude, and atmosphere.
  • Demonstrate a desire to learn and apply knowledge as a Rec Sports ambassador.
  • Take ownership of Rec Sports facilities and programs by exhibiting a responsible work ethic.
  • Promote and maintain cleanliness and appearance within and surrounding Rec Sports facilities.
  • Enforce Rec Sports policies and procedures to promote participant safety and satisfaction.
  • Respond to all emergency situations and adhere to established protocol including pre- and post- incident procedures.
  • All Rec Sports employees are expected to abide by the Rec Sports Student Staff Code of Conduct that clarifies shared expectations and standards in effort to best serve our patrons, develop each team member, and prepare student employees for future career endeavors.
Rec Sports Fall Kick-Off 2026
  • Fall Kick-Off is our all-staff event to discuss department-wide updates, facilitate unit training sessions, as well as cultivate community and positive energy within our Rec Sports team. All Rec Sports Student Staff are expected to attend and will be paid for their training time.
  • Fall Kick-Off is scheduled for August 18, 2026. Please mark your calendars as this is mandatory for all-staff. In addition, please hold your calendars for August 12-18, 2026 for mandatory unit-specific trainings.
New MSA Training

Tentative April 14th, 4pm-7pm and April 15th, 4pm-7pm. You must be available to attend New Member Service Associate Training on these dates and times if hired for the position. This training will prepare you for shifts starting in Summer A 2026.

Unit Specific

Job Responsibilities
  • Monitor access to the facility to ensure only valid users and their guests are admitted
  • Have knowledge of membership options and guide patrons through purchasing a membership
  • Assist program participants and facility users regularly, on the phone and in person, with all aspects of the Recreational Sports Program
  • Make referrals to appropriate areas as necessary
  • Be knowledgeable of all Recreational Sports and University Programs
  • Work independently and be resourceful in order to assist patrons and provide excellent customer service
  • Respond to all injuries and assist in immediate first aid and proper emergency procedures

$14.00/hour

  • Work shifts at Southwest Recreation Center & Student Recreation and Fitness Center
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively
  • Availability to work nights and weekend hours
  • Availability to work 9-12 hours, at minimum, each week
  • Successful completion of department & unit training requirements once hired
  • Complete and maintain UF online certifications in GET
    803, OOC
    101, PRV
    802, ITT
    102, GET
    811 once hired

This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week.
