The Department of Recreational Sports is currently looking for Wellness Associates to join our energetic team and move Gators toward lifelong wellbeing! This position for Wellness Associate is open for those who have completed NASM Personal Training Preparation Course with Rec Sports or those who hold an equivalent personal training certification.

Rec Sports Team Member Responsibilities

  • Develop professional relationships with co-workers, participants and guests.
  • phold and exceed the expectations of the Cornerstones of Rec Sports Service: accountability, anticipating needs, attitude, and atmosphere.
  • Demonstrate a desire to learn and apply knowledge as a Rec Sports ambassador.
  • Take ownership of Rec Sports facilities and programs by exhibiting a responsible work ethic.
  • Promote and maintain cleanliness and appearance within and surrounding Rec Sports facilities.
  • Enforce Rec Sports policies and procedures to promote participant safety and satisfaction.
  • Respond to all emergency situations and adhere to established protocol including pre- and post- incident procedures.
  • All Rec Sports employees are expected to abide by the Rec Sports Student Staff Code of Conduct that clarifies shared expectations and standards in effort to best serve our patrons, develop each team member, and prepare student employees for future career endeavors.

Rec Sports Fall Kick-Off 2026:
Tuesday, August 18, 2026

  • Fall Kick-Off is our all-staff event to discuss department-wide updates, facilitate unit training sessions, as well as cultivate community and positive energy within our Rec Sports team. All Rec Sports Student Staff are expected to attend and will be paid for their training time.
  • Fall Kick-Off is scheduled for August 18, 2026. Please mark your calendars as this is mandatory for all-staff! In addition, please hold your calendars for August 12-18, 2026 for mandatory unit-specific trainings.

Unit Specific Job Responsibilities

  • Assist with the daily operation of the InMotion Center.
  • Competently perform all InMotion Center appointment types, including equipment orientations, personal training trial sessions, exercise is medicine, and fitness assessments
  • Be an ambassador for Rec Sports
  • Enforce all organizational policies and ensure participants conduct themselves in an orderly manner. Report all problem users to the Operations Supervisor or your direct supervisor.
  • Attend all mandatory monthly meetings, continuing education sessions, and mentor groups.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and order of the InMotion Center.

Advertised Salary:

$14.25/hour

  • First Aid, CPR, AED certification or ability to attain it within first week of employment
  • Hold a personal training certification from a nationally recognized organization such as ACSM, ACE, NSCA, or NASM
  • Required to work a minimum of 4 hours per week
  • Experience and interest in the fitness field is preferred
  • Employees must be students or OPS employees of Recreational Sports
  • Associates are required to attend a 3-5 hour training and practice session prior to being placed on the schedule
