Job SummarySemi‑skilled manual work in maintaining and repairing streets, sidewalks, storm drains, catch basins and swale areas. Work is performed under general supervision and may require employee to operate motor vehicles and power‑driven equipment. May perform related work as required.

Responsibilities- Removes broken and cracked concrete. Forms, grades, pours and finishes concrete; strips forms.
- Cuts and removes damaged asphalt. Levels ground with rock and replaces with hot asphalt and rolls it with a roller.
- Grades shell rock roads using loader or tractor with box blade.
- Cuts and re-sods swale areas.
- Repairs, maintains and constructs storm drains using power tools and heavy equipment.
- Cleans up canals.
- Maintains and services equipment.
- High school graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
- One (1) year construction experience including six (6) months in concrete or asphalt construction.
- Must obtain Level I, I.M.S.A. certification within one year of date of hire.
- Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License, Class B, CDL, with Air Brake endorsement, within six months from hire.
It is the policy of the City of Delray Beach that persons having a CDL and participating in activities regulated by DOT are subject to drug testing and alcohol testing. The Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991 requires alcohol and drug testing of safety-sensitive employees in aviation, motor carriers, railroad, and mass transit industries. Provisions of this policy are based upon said Act and the relevant federal regulations applicable to the Act.
As a condition of employment, The City of Delray Beach reserves the right to require all employees having a CDL and performing safety-sensitive activities regulated by DOT to submit at any time to drug and/or alcohol testing to determine the presence of prohibited substances.

A comparable combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
