If an accommodation due to a disability is needed to apply for this position, please call or the Florida Relay System at (TDD) or visit Accessibility University of Florida Soil, Water, & Nutrient Management Laboratory is looking to hire a Post‑doctoral Associate who will provide overall leadership and direction in the field of Nutrient Sorption Technologies for Water Quality Improvements within the state of Florida.
The Associate will be part of a multi‑year research project funded by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and in coordination with the South Florida Water Management District that will evaluate phosphorus and nitrogen removal enhancement in Taylor Creek Stormwater Treatment Area discharging into Lake Okeechobee, Florida, using innovative technology.
Responsibilities include:
- Routine water quality monitoring from the study site (i)
- Facilitate laboratory analyses for water nutrient and suspended solids, and data interpretation (ii)
- Geostatistical assessment of treatment technology based on water quality data (iii)
- Cost assessment of per pound removal for the technology (iv)
The post‑doctoral Associate will also assist in overall project coordination, leading field‑based assessment of sorption studies, monitoring of water quality and weather data, reporting, and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications:
- A PhD (foreign equivalent acceptable) in Agricultural & Biological Sciences, Environmental Sciences/Engineering, Nutrient Management, Water Quality, or any related field.
- Candidates must be supportive of the mission of the Land‑Grant system.
- Candidates must also have a commitment to UF core values.
Preferred:
- General understanding of Lake Okeechobee, Florida ecosystems specific to wetlands.
- Hydrologic modeling and geospatial assessment tools.
