Position Summary

Must have relevant restaurant industry and previous kitchen and management experience, self-motivated, creative, has excellent leadership skills, someone who can spot problems and resolve them quickly while holding a high work and safety standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are normal for this position. This list is not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive.

  • Able to work all stations in the kitchen-Grill, Sauté, expeditor, prep, specialty parties, Demo cooking
  • Must be able to work 12 hour shifts any day of the week, including Holidays
  • Strong food purchasing presence, monitor inventory, develop menus, item pricing and manage staff overtime
  • Keep the kitchen brigade together, hire, train and supervise kitchen personnel, identify new culinary techniques and presentations
  • Work closely with the Food and Beverage Director as well as front of the house manager and Certified Dietary Manager
  • Stay in compliance with all County and State Health Regulations
  • Keep high resident satisfaction as well as employee satisfaction
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.

  • High school diploma/GED required (Two-year culinary degree preferred)
  • 7+ years’ experience in a management and Executive Kitchen Position
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current restaurant industry trends
  • Must possess culinary creativity as well as flexibility
  • Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal food sanitation regulations
  • Comfortable providing direction and supervision to kitchen staff
  • Must possess strong professional communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
  • This individual will need to be empathetic, energetic and have an affinity for working with senior population.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to frequently lift/move up to 50 lbs., and occasionally lift/move up to 100 lbs.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
  • This individual will need to be empathetic, energetic and have an affinity for working with a diverse senior population.
