Position: Research Coordinator I

Overview

Research Coordinator I – The incumbent will act as liaison between faculty, staff, and students regarding research/meetings for the research/project team. The position is located in the FFGS – Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences Program, Millhopper Road Unit – 7922 NW71st St, Gainesville, FL 32653. Salary: $43,888. This is a time‑limited position dependent on grant‑funding (5 years with possibility of renewal).

Responsibilities

The incumbent’s primary responsibility will be to act as liaison between faculty, staff, and students regarding research/meetings for the research/project team, including coordinating meetings with state and federal fisheries agencies and stakeholders. The coordinator collaborates with the Principal Investigator to facilitate quarterly and annual research team meetings, coordinates student and guest participation, drafts and edits technical reports for biannual and final reports, prepares research summaries and data visualizations for professional conferences and outreach events, coordinates research and participant travel, manages purchasing and travel documentation, assists in development and maintenance of the project website, and ensures compliance with federal and state purchasing policies.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in fisheries or related field.
  • Experience in planning multi‑investigator meetings with academia, agencies, and stakeholders.
  • Experience conducting scientific research, including data analysis, visualization, and technical report writing in fisheries or a related field.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills as evidenced by publications and presentations.
  • Experience with data visualization platforms.
  • Experience with electronic data management (databases, spreadsheets, online forms, etc.).
  • Ability to multitask on several sub‑projects while paying attention to detail; well organized.
  • Familiarity with typical institutional paperwork load.
