Description
St. Francis Vet Care is a non-profit organization that has provided quality affordable and accessible veterinary care to the companion animals of people experiencing homelessness, veterans, and very low-income residents in North Central Florida for the last 18 years.
We are committed to serving the needs of animals and people in our community and strengthening the human-animal bond.
Position Summary: We are seeking a part‑time licensed Veterinarian with surgical experience to join our mission-driven team. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in both our clinic and mobile medical outreach settings, providing high-quality care under an access-to-care model.
Pay: From $67,600.00 per year.
Schedule & Availability- Available clinic hours:
Monday–Thursday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM - Expected schedule:
Looking for min. 2 surgical days per week - Outreach:
Rotating Saturdays at mobile clinic locations across Alachua County - Flexible opportunities for additional shifts and production bonuses
- Perform comprehensive care for healthy, sick, and injured animals.
- Conduct wellness exams, administer vaccinations, prescribe medications, and provide wound care.
- Perform surgical procedures, including spay/neuter and minor soft-tissue surgeries.
- Educate pet owners on preventive care, zoonotic diseases, nutrition, and hygiene.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date medical records.
- Follow ethical and legal standards, including safe humane euthanasia when medically warranted.
- Participate in rotating Saturday outreach clinics serving high-need areas.
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) from an accredited program.
- Active Florida veterinary license in good standing.
- Experience in spay/neuter and minor surgical procedures.
- Commitment to accessible, community-based veterinary care.
- Able to communicate in English, written and oral.
- Strong communication and client education skills.
- Comfortable with fieldwork and outreach-style settings.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, email, and veterinary software systems.
- Collaborative, compassionate, and community-minded.
- Must be able to lift, pull, or push up to 50 lbs with reasonable accommodation.
- Standing, bending, reaching, squatting, and other physical movements required.
