Summary

The Malcom Randall VA Healthcare System's Specialty Care Service is seeking an experienced and dynamic mid-level Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP). Our ideal applicants are those who want to contribute to the achievement of quality care standards - as well as the growth and development of a VA academic hospital program.

• The Advanced Practice Nurse {APN) II
  - Ill Nurse Practitioner {NP) practices in designated Service - Program - or Clinic to provide a full range of services emphasizing quality - timeliness - and the advancement of the Veterans Affairs {VA) mission
• The NP provides advanced clinical practice - consultation - and management - with the emphasis on health promotion - protection - and preservation - disease prevention - risk reduction - behavior modification - and patient education and counseling
• The NP practices to the full extent of their education - training - and certification
• Core and supplementary functions are outlined in the clinical privileges documents that correspond with the position
• The NP has prescriptive authority - as indicated by their role and outlined in the clinical privileges documents
• Duties include but are not limited to:
  
  - Independently manages a panel of patients with acute and chronic health conditions - emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention - through evidence-based diagnosis and treatment
• - Develops and implements an individualized plan to achieve optimal population health and disease management
• - Demonstrates leadership and works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team
• - Orders and interprets labs - tests - and diagnostic studies
• - Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions
• - Initiates referrals and consults to specialty services
