Job Details
• Work setting is a Level 1 Trauma, academic teaching hospital and top-rated children's hospital in Florida,
• Assigned to the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU), caring for both PCICU and PICU patients including complex open heart cases,
• Wide range of pediatric acute care patients, including complex and post-open heart surgery cases,
• 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (variable days),
• 36 hours per week,
• Weekends and holidays required,
• Floating to other units is required; travelers float before staff RNs during the float period,
• No block scheduling,
• Epic EMR in use,
Job Requirements
• Active FL RN license or compact RN license currently in hand,
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS,
• Minimum 2-3 years of RN experience with at least 3 years in a Level 2 or Level 3 PCICU with open heart PICU skills,
• Open heart PICU (PCICU) experience must be clearly documented in work history,
• Prior travel nursing experience required,
• Recent Epic EMR experience required,
• Flu vaccine required prior to start date; only exemption accepted is a physician's note documenting a vaccine reaction (egg allergy is not a valid exemption),
• Work history must account for all gaps over 30 days with explanation,
• At least one professional reference dated within the last 12 months required for consideration,
Additional Information
• Provide intensive care nursing to a diverse range of pediatric patients, including complex post-open heart surgery cases, within a leading academic medical system,
• Unit manager interviews are required as part of the hiring process,
• All new RN starts must pass a specialty-specific exam and an EKG exam, each with a minimum passing score of 80%; 100% of lethal rhythms must be correctly identified on the EKG exam regardless of overall score,
• Nurses are encouraged to review cardiac rhythms in the week prior to their start date; failure to pass may result in extended remedial training beyond Day 2 of orientation,
• No time off (RTO) permitted during the first 2 weeks of the assignment,
• Maximum of 6 days of RTO for a 13-week contract,
• This position is within a 50-mile radius rule - candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are subject to a local pay rate,
• Candidates who reside more than 50 miles from the facility qualify for the travel pay rate,
